Dr.Ahmed Gomaa

Board Chairman

Dr. Ahmed Gomaa is chariman of the board of Alnoor Islamic Center, graduated with a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering for NC State University in 2016. During his PhD, Ahmed invented a novel treatment for drug-resistance bacteria, patented the technology, and co-founded a company to help bring the technology to patients. Ahmed currently works as management consultant with focus on pharmaceutical and food industries. Since his arrival to the Raleigh, NC in 2011. Ahmed worked in multiple non-profit positions to help serve the community, including president of the Egyptian Student Association at NCSU, founder and principle of Ammar Bin Yaser Sunday School in Holly Springs, founder of Eid carnival (Eid celebration that serves around 2000 Muslims in the Triangle area every year usually at low to no cost). In his spare time, Ahmed likes to spend time with his three kids, play soccer, tennis, swim, and fish.

Dr.Hatem Tagel-Din

Board Member

Dr. Hatem Tagel-Din is the chairman of the board of Muslim Youth and Community Center. He is also vice president of Muslim American Society, Raleigh Chapter and a board member of ALNOOR Islamic Center which is a new Masjid at Fuquay Varina. Dr. Hatem obtained his Ph.D. from Tokyo University, Disaster Mitigation Engineering on 1998. He is the president and co-founder of Applied Science International company located at Durham, NC. He is married with four kids.

Dr. Sameh Mobarak

Board Member

Sameh Mobarek is a physician at the North Carolina Heart & Vascular Hospital who worked in the field of cardiology and electrophysiology in the Raleigh area since 1998. He earned his medical degree from Ain-Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. He is currently the president of the Raleigh chapter of Muslim American Society. He also serves as a board member at the Mariam Clinic.

About Us

AIC is an independent organization operated by MAS-RDU to serve Islam and Muslims not only in Holly Springs/Fuquay-Varina but in the area of the Triangle. AIC is open for all volunteers to help and support as much as they can. The community helped selected this name ALNOOR which means the light. We pray that this facility helps spreading the light of Islam and spreading guidance for Muslims and Non-Muslims in the area and surroundings, Amin
With 5 acres of land available, this facility has many opportunities of growth. Phase 1 includes minimum remodeling to use the facility almost as-is. Phase 2 will focus on building organization structure and paying off the debts needed to secure the facility. Phase 3 in shaa Allah will focus at expanding the structure footprint to increase the prayer hall area, add more classrooms for possible fulltime school, add more of outdoor sports fields and picnic shelter and increase the parking lot size.

March 15th, 2020, online fundraiser via Zoom
April 7th, 2020, closing on the facility
April 23rd, 2020, First Ramadan program led by AIC. The program is all online due to Pandemic and Stay at Home Order
